Title: looking for a game...
Post by: severdhed on September 07, 2007, 10:42:12 pm
i bought one of those 128 in one hand held game systems a few months ago that connect to your TV.  on it, there is a game called Binary Land, which was apparently released on the NES.  I did some searching, hoping that this was also an arcade game, but have come up empty handed.  i have seen a few arcade systems on various websites that list this as a game that is on them, but I cannot seem to locate any info on the arcade version of this game(if one even exists)  or if maybe it was released under another name.

basically, you have two penguins that you have to navigate through a maze filled with spiders, spiderwebs and various other things.  you move both of them at the same time, and the horizontal movement is mirrored, so it is very challenging.  is there an arcade game like this? I dont want to load an NES emulator for 1 game.

According to the Wikipedia article, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_Land) it was released "in 1983 for the MSX, FM-7, NEC PC-6001, NEC PC-8801, and in 1985 for the Famicom. "

While I take everything from Wikipedia with a grain of salt, Hudson didn't release that many arcade titles. Pretty much everything they did was focused on consoles and computers (even porting westone's Wonder Boy arcade game as Adventure Island and developing the PC Engine/Turbografx-16).

The game sounds fun.

Not the same game, but a similar concept can be found in "Joinem" (no klov info).

Fun enough game to keep in the "puzzle" section of your cab.

thanks, i will give joinem a try.  after looking around a little, i was not able to locate an arcade version either, but i did find a PC remake of the NES game.  someone recreated it with better graphics, and some new levels, but it is very similar to the original, and alot of fun.  I didn't want to set up an NES emulator just for this game, but i already have some other PC games setup on my cabinet, so adding this one is a much better way to go.

if anyone is interested, it is freeware and you can download it here:
