My wife is starting an arcade project with her students in an alternative school in NJ. She is curious (and so am I) about how to go about getting donations for her school so that the kids can build a machine.

... more information requires, me thinks ...

In eastern PA. Gives machines to schools/charities a couple times a year.
If you're just looking for cash to scratchbuild a machine, I don't really have any ideas other than selling candy bars or something.

They are going to build something in wood shop. This is a class project for the year and will most likely take them most of the year to complete.I think she was interested in where she can get computer parts and such donated to the school not cash. I believe that the school has the wood for it since they build cabinets and bookshelves all the time. Hopefully that will clear some things up.

In my opinion, Todd @ TNT is a liar and a thief... but he does donate games to charity.
Could you elaborate on what he stole from you and lied about?
Just curious, since I've done business with TNT a number of times and my experience has been good.

and maybe try a different thread or take it to a PM so as to keep this thread on track? :dunno

I've got an older Dell P4 that I could donate for this project. It is kind of a beater though and just good enough to run MAME. If nothing better comes together in the next few days or weeks...Hit me up.

I appreciate it. I'll see what she wants to do. She told me that the school has forms for donations so I am not sure what the procedure is for her to receive items. I will let her know and get back to you.

Raving lunatic to wanna-be moderator in one short year. That must be some kind of record. :dizzy:

just a thought, is it wise to be running roms on a school project?
better make sure you stick to the legal ones from mamedev.org imo

Heh, I've seen people try to moderate their first day. I don't feel I was trying to moderate, just an attempt to keep a decent thread on track.
;D

No one's mentioning ROMs. This is a hardware site, remember? :D

No romzors will be included in this project. I do understand the legality issues involved with including such items but fortunately for them I have an x-arcade cd, from an old retroblast contest, that they can use.
