Title: Wico mouse hack?????
Post by: SirPoonga on March 17, 2002, 08:43:25 pm
Ok, now I'm pissed cause I might have to spend money while being unemployed!

I've tried two mice with my wico, first one didn;t work, second one is from oscar and I am having issues that make no sense.

IS IT WORHT IT to the a happ with the USB converter?

Anyone get a Wico working?

Oh yeah, it HAS to be USB so optipac is out of the question.  I have a happ trackball, just not rollors or optics.

The Happ converter is quite a bit more expensive than a mouse, but still not completely outrageous at $60.  For an extra $20, there is the Hagstrom KE-USB36 that is a combo keyboard/trackball interface.  The Hagstrom interfaces normally only accept active hi devices, so you probably want to make sure the optics on your Wico are active hi before going that route.

I agree with you on your mouse problems... based on your emails, you do seem to be having problems that make no sense.  Are you wishing you sent it to me as I suggested in the first place?  ;)

I got my 3 inch Wico wired in with a cheap Compaq mouse just fine... I will post some pics and instructions up on my web site soon.  I also have 2 of the 2/14" TB's from Wico but haven't gotten around to hackin those yet.  What kind of problems are you running into with the hack and what size TB are you using?

mad, I am using a 3" wico.  I bought the mouse (with some prehacking) from oscar.  He's been helping me.

Here's the low down.

FIRST, up-down worked fine but curso was stuck toright.  Replaced the black optic (receiver?) on the left-right.  Then it worked somewhat fine for a moment then only went left and no right.  I unpluged and plugged it back in, left-right worked fine, up-down was stuck on down.  Then for awhile it was stuck on bottom and on right.  NOW it goes left-right fine but stuck on bottom.

It also has a nasty backspin for when it workes.
