Yeah I already know about that cause it makes it cheaper to use cash instead of a credit card for some reason.

The auctions I go to asks for name and address to get my card (bidder number).  I think this is for the mailing list.

When I win an item at an auction, the only question they ask is what form of payment I intend to use.

if its a superauctions auction, they require an ID the first time you register. They give it back to you after you pay for your items or say you are done. the only other thing I take is a small note pad and a pen to take some notes.

The auction I go to makes you fill out and sign a form (address, phone number, sig) but I don't recall ever showing ID, so I guess technically, if I'm paying in cash I could buy anonymously...

Lessons Learned from the last auction:

Bring an Extension cord in case you want to power up a machine that is away from the powered machines.  There were two rows without power at the last one.

Bring a flashlight, great for peaking in to see if a board is even in the thing or if its the right board.

bring some quarters  :laugh2: , sometimes cabinets are locked so you can test them to see if they play blind unless you put a quarter in...

I second this.  The preview time wasn't really preview because so many freekin' switches kept blowing.

Also, bring a hand cart (furntature dolly) in case you pull the trigger on a machine.  They will not help you get it out of the building unless you slip someone a 20 or something.

Bring a digital camera as well, 1.) makes for a more interesting read should you buy one 2.) you can take pictures in case you decide you are going to build it from scratch.

good luck
