Long time no see, I've been away for a while with a bunch of things going on so I am completely out of the loop, I don't know if there's still any desire for those mechanical rotary interfaces and/or if someone else has filled that void, but...
I think I have some left over supplies that I could build up some and sell off if anyone would be interested, or if there's enough interest I could possibly consider another production run. As I recall the price was $25 for the 2 player interface plus shipping.
Any interest?

Man it is so sad to see a great interface stop running.
I love your product, and unfortunately will not likely buy another one till this breaks...maybe I need to get backup. Never thought about that!
-
sure, i'd take one, as a spare.

Druin, I purchased an interface at least a year ago. Was there any documentation or prog I needed to download from your site? Or an instruction photo on how to wire it up? Please reply.
-
Druin's website is gone. :'( But rdagger's (http://www.thegallaghergroup.com/arcade/RI.aspx) isn't. This should show you everything you need to know to wire up a rotary interface. Rdagger / Rototron front page (http://rototron.info/).

I've been out of the loop too, but I know Ultimarc sells a USB rotary interface (http://www.ultimarc.com/rotary.html) for $35.

Groovy Game Gear has a Rotary unit as well:

My biggest problem with Ultimarc's interface is that you need a separate USB input to use it. This doesn't make sense to me since you need an ipac or similar interface for the up, down, left and right microswitches on the joystick and your pushbuttons.
The GGG interface is integrated with a gamepad-type interface and is a complete solution. But if you already have a keyboard encoder, you'll need to remove it.
To me, for swappable control panels, the type of encoder (such as rdagger's) which connects to the rotary sticks and needs to be wired to an ipac or wiz type encoder is the perfect solution. If I didn't already have one, I'd be a buyer.

There is no need to remove an existing keyboard encoder to use the rotary features GP-WizRX. It will co-exist with any setup, so it can be used to augment the capabilities of your panel by adding rotary capability, as well as a large number of additional inputs.

I bought a controller a while back and just got around to installing it. I assumed that the software to configure it would be included or downloadable, but I can't seem to locate it and it didn't come with the controller. Anyone have a link or can provide a copy? Thanks!

Maybe if you tell us which controller you bought...

Wow, now that I reread my post... :banghead:
I bought a GP-WizRX-ST a couple of months back from GGG (the controller RandyT just referred to). I checked his site for the Roto-X Profiler software that he lists in the item description as well as discussed here, but I have been unable to locate it. I emailed GGG customer support last week, but have not gotten a response yet. So, I figured I would try here since the people on this forum seem to know more than anyone else about controls and RandyT seems to make regular input as well.
FWIW, I was rushing to post the last message as my boss was walking up the aisle. ;)

I went and bought a rotary interface from ultimark about 2 months ago. I read all about yours in these forums but found you had disappeared. Otherwise I would have bought yours.
I love having rotary joysticks. I think everyone should have them in their cab.
So many great games like Zybots and Ikari.
My arcade machine came with them. I have a heavy barrell machine.

Sorry for the mis-representation. What I meant to say was that if you already had an existing encoder and bought the GP-WizRX you'd be buying additional inputs you don't need (because you already own them). But then you would have the inputs to make a four player panel :P

According to GGG's website (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=304): "Software use is optional. Standard rotary function does not require its use."
I'd send Randy another email, he has always given me quick customer service, perhaps it got lost?

I believe the Happ rotary is the only new rotary stick available. There are the LS-30's which are available used and some homebrew conversions such as Floyds (http://www.markoates.com/rotary).

Wow...don't know how I missed that one, but it's up now. Just click on the screenshot in the product description (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=76_81&products_id=304).
But scotthh is correct in that no software is required to use the rotary function. It just gives the interface an extra feature (Front-Line mode) as well as to allow user timing adjustments.
