From the golden age when "techno" broke out on the west coast (1991-92)
I'm looking for CD albums and comps with anthem classics like...
Acen
Eon
LA Style
Guru Josh
Apotheosis
etc...
Willing to pay bottom dollar! ;D
thanks!

Just saw this thread now and nearly fell over. I'm an old school rave DJ here in Ireland, still spinning after 16 years. Dance music is the blood in my veins, love my classics, LOVE THEM. (Off to Ibiza in the morning for my 5th time, 2 week burner, ouch).
Gnateye, did a gig last week and finished with O fortuna (Carmina burana) and REGULARLY finish the same gig with James Brown is dead or Injected with a poison. Last christmas morning I got 5-6 text messages saying "Guess what Dexter, James Brown IS dead" :D

"Guess what Dexter, James Brown IS dead" :D
When he died I had that song stuck in my mind for days (all the while singing it out loud). No one knew what the hell I was talking about.
 GET OFF MY LAWN!!

I hear you British/Irish people have all but destroyed Ibiza.
:laugh2:
The larger louts have taken a lot from the island (started by the tv show Ibiza uncovered' which was filming the first time I was there, the last really good year on the island), but if you go to the right places and know the right people its still a hell of a place. Theres the clubber parts, the scumbag chav parts and the family parts. Like most things along dance music lines, the divisions are defined by peoples character and attitudes rather than geographically i.e. an Irish clubber would have more respect over there for an english clubber than some Irish piss head causing trouble, despite the two nations troubled relationship. Thats one of the best things of the music genre, its general philosophy of peace unity and tolerance.
(BTW using the term 'british/irish' makes as much sense as using the term 'jewish/palestinian' or 'black/white person' in that context. In general, young Irish people travel on holiday, get pissed and are the life and soul of the party, young british people go away, get pissed, are loud, obnoxious, and start fights. Remember, I am saying in general.

and there wouldn't be any bias in your statement ;)

I love LA Style!

Just found out about this Swedish techno band called Basshunter. Good beats, but the lyrics are pretty funny, too - though they can be repetitive.
Boten Anna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX79tgB2PVk) is about a chat bot that kicks people off the channel.
DotA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ-TZk4gPKM) is about kids playing DotA, a mod for Warcraft III (I think, never played it myself).
Catchy tunes, though.

Those are funny, but the music is just standard pop dance music.
Check out this Smurfs remix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx-hVdxxMS0)

what you need to find mate is a copy of 'fantazia NYE '91 DJ's Easygroove/Lisa' , to my knowledge just a cassette no cd, mine is about a 50th gen copy so is barely audible, it is THE seminal rave mix tape.if you get a good copy, ill have one :D
i can not state enough how good this tape is, anyone from the uk ive ever met who went dancing in fields in the early 90's knows it and loves it.

Thats funny cuz the club I started DJing at, nearly everyone seems to play a lot of Happy Hardcore.

I'm looking for the darker stuff, before they made it "happy" to appeal to a wider mainstream audience (1991-1992). It's usually faster, lots of breakbeats and very heavy bass drum or bass line.
Some of my favorites are on Youtube:
Eon - Fear the MindKiller (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZVTBHPe0wE)
Alpha Team - Speed Racer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmhwHrWkt3E)
Power Pill - PacMan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjEDX-2M7Qk)
Acen - Trip to the Moon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymMzjKKRefw)
Kicks Like a Mule - The Bouncer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tguP14GMrCA)
LA Style - James Brown is Dead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu2st0dLmQw)
Holy Noise - James Brown is Still Alive (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDyphW3WDic)
Prodigy - Charley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emc9P22-MUo)
Apotheosis - O Fortuna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO99j2n2rM4)
??various?? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1srUS2lJj0)
I found some affordable CDs on Amazon, but a few of the rarer albums are really expensive.
Maybe I should just download. ;D

Zoo Rave 1
Only for the Headstrong Vol. II
Both Highly Recommended.

Well, and if the albums are too much, you may be able to find it on iTunes or similar for their $10 an album or whatever they charge. I know they don't have just everything, but it's worth checking.

RayB,
I threw a copy of the Alpha Team CD in the package for you.
