Title: Scored this for doing a MAME conversion!
Post by: RXII on September 05, 2007, 05:16:15 pm
Hi Guys,
This may be a future project..... my mate picked up a few cabinets from a local arcade dealer that was trying to make some room, he got the guy to fit out a lowboy with a new Jamma harness and a 48 in 1. He has that sitting in his loungeroom and is pretty happy with it. So he has another 2 cabs sitting there, after seeing my PC setup with MAME and a nice Mala FE that is almost ready to go into my lowboy he couldn't believe it. He asked me if I could fit this setup in one of his spare cabinets and I could have the other one!  He dropped them off the other day, Can anyone tell me if this is any sort of dedicated cabinet? I can't find any plates on it, only a serial number on the front above the door. It has a horizontal monitor and a Ghosts 'N' Goblins PCB. I plugged it in, some crackles from the speaker, marquee lit up but that was it. Then smoke started coming out of the monitor chassis just above where the red lead of death comes out....any idea's??

Don't know what the cabinet used to be, but I think you are getting the cooler looking of the two.  Congratulations, and don't forget to keep us posted on the project.

Where are you located? My guess is europe, australia or other country not in North America. The shape looks A LOT like Missile Command, but I am pretty sure it's a "generic" made by "Hankin".

I am in Australia, its a pretty well built cabinet thats for sure. Not sure whether to try and get it going as it is or gut it and throw a pc in there! As I said there are no compliance type tags or anything to say what game it is so I think you are right...a generic unit.

Thanks,

Simon.

Smoke coming out of where the red lead of death comes out?

Your Flyback is bad!

Hi,
sorry I am new to all this, is that an easy fix...chassis etc or is the whole monitor a throw away job.

Thanks for the reply,

Simon.

Flyback is one major part you can usually replace for about $20.

If the flyback for that monitor is available.
