Hello menace

1st, download the Adventure font
http://www.dafont.com/adventure.font (http://www.dafont.com/adventure.font)

Then, follows one of these tutorials (they have downloadable layer effect):
http://www.teckmagazine.com/tutorials/tutorials/adobe-photoshop-style-layer-tutorial-1-indiana-jones-logo.html (http://www.teckmagazine.com/tutorials/tutorials/adobe-photoshop-style-layer-tutorial-1-indiana-jones-logo.html)

hope this helps

Title: update
Post by: menace on August 30, 2007, 01:14:07 pm
So here's what I'm thinking--going for a 50's sci-fi movie poster type theme.  Any comments to help it get closer to that would be appreciated!  Just to wrap it in a bigger picture--I'm using a berzerk cabinet which will be restored to a berzerk cabinet (sideart stencils, berzerk bezel ) with a new marquee and control panel.

Looks cool. I have 2 thoughts.

Increase the font size and/or modify the placement. Right now the words look too isolated from one another.

Compared to the artwork, the text looks too clean, Maybe there's some way to incorporate a texture or some other effect to make the gradient more resemble the hand painted look of the artwork. Another thought in that direction would be to use the eyedropper tool to choose your gradient colors directly from the artwork so the reds and yellows of the font match the flames.

I agree with zero_hour,

the text is a bit too clean/shiny.

You'll need to add a filter to put some dust/dirt on it.

Keep it up.

It's looking good!

Agreed, bigger text and filter it somehow.  Maybe the texture it needs is a paint brush stroke effect.  The rest of the image looks like an oil painting, if the text was colors from the image and treated with an oil painting filter it may blend in nicely.

Thanks for the great feedback--that was pretty much my sentiments as well!  Now if I could just remember how to do all these fancy things I'd be in good shape  :dizzy:  I'll do some experimenting and post my results

thx again!
