Title: thoughts on my new galaga
Post by: Hawk Daddy on August 28, 2007, 11:00:46 pm
Aight so I'm getting a new galaga with a mint bezel and marquee  he says, the only thing is the board is messed up something in it doesn't work.  So here are my options.

#1

Fix the board, should be easy cause I have a working board to test it on.  Restore this one, again, make it really nice, keep the better of the two sale the other one and buy me a ms pacman.

#2
Fix the board sale it, and my ms pacman/ pacman pcbs, sale the wiring harness and the rest of the gust, buy a reunion board and restore the cab to just like a brand new namco ms pacman galaga reunion game, marquee graphics all that stuff.  And have the Reunion game be the center of attention and have the Original galaga in the back ground.

#3
fix the board sale it and the ms pacman/pacman pcb, plus all the wiring harness, and the rest of the guts, marquee bezel, ect.  Take that cash restore the machine just like a reunion, except different marquee, and bezel, and CP, then get one of the 48 in 1 boards and put it in there, and then I would have one 48 in 1 and a 60 in 1 with track ball.

I've checked the bay and galagas run around $700-1200 in restored shape, so I could make a good bit off of restorin it, I could sale for that much and then buy a ms pacman, and some other parts to finish some other games.  If you were me what would you do?

I took the liberty of correcting some of your grammatical errors.  I hope you don't mind.

Option number 4
Fix the galaga board, sale it, and buy a multipac kit for my pacman board, and then make it a deadicated ms pacman cabinet, with a multipac marquee.

Well this is not what I wanted to see, this machine looks great.  Side art is almost perfect, the kick plate would have to be replace.  The BEZEL is the best I had ever seen.  Even the back of it is still white.  The bezel is well worth it.  The marquee has some stickers on it, but can be cleaned.  The monitor still works, has some burn not too bad.  The joystick and buttons are great.  They aren't worn down at all.  The marquee light even still works.  Now it's going to kill me to chop her up, and I still might restore this one again. But now I'm stuck, on what to do.

Welp I'm thrilled to report that the galaga pcb works 100%.  Neither it nor my board worked in the new machine, but I put this board in my galaga and it fires right up.  Now I'm going to have to check the voltages to the board tomorrow and hopefully there is just a simple issue that I can fix.  I got the game for  $130 so if I can get a fully working galaga for that price, then wow, that is great.
