I'm new to arcade machines, but I have good carpentry
and electrical skills. I just purchased a Sunset
Riders, Jamma machine w/ a 16" horizontally mounted
monitor. Everything works but cabinet is worn and
rough. After opening up the machine and inspecting
its internals, quite simple.
I really want a galaga machine, but due to popularity,
very expensive. I noticed both the 48-1 & 60-1
boards have galaga. I have found plans for the
original galaga cabinet on the net.
Questions?
1. Will the board simply plug into my Jamma harness
w/ no modifications?
2. Can simply keep all wiring hooked up the way it
currently is and transplant the monitor, wiring,
controls, ect., into a new (galage style cabinet) and
mount the monitor vertical w/ out any color issues? I
know when you rotate a TV or Computer monitor, colors
change.
3. Can I set these boards to load galaga only on every
start up and avoid having to choose a game on every
start up / or every credit?
Thanks for your responce.
I know if would be simpler to buy a vertical monitor
Jamma cabinet, but I live in a rural area, could be a
long time looking for one.
Pros? Cons? Suggestions?
Sorry for nub question.

Welcome.
1: Yes. But be sure to add a Test and Service button to your loom.
2: Yes.
3: No. You can disable all the others so Galaga only shows and set it to Free Play.
Pros: 60 games without stuffing around. Plug and Play. VGA support so you could even ditch that old tube/monitor chassis and install an LCD or PC CRT.
Cons: Sound faults on a handful of games.
Good luck

Oh, and don't forget to add a trackball if you choose the 60-1.

I've never tried to do it but I read somewhere the 60-in-1's will load directly in to a game if that is the only game set to show....

You are probably right on that one Frizzle.
