From GameDailyBiz:
"Yep, you read that right: Joust is going to be a movie. It's unknown if egg eating and pterodactyl fighting will be involved as yet, but producers Christine Peters and Michael Cerenzie are on board. Read on for the movie that should be "Gladiator meets Mad Max."

Some really interesting stuff there. I hope the movie ad comic are better than Joust II.
-
I wonder if John Newcomer (the original Joust programmer) is involved? Years back he did an interview where he said he always wanted to make Joust into a movie:

Also this is a little concerning :laugh2:
"Hollywood Producers Christine Peters (Area 51, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) and Michael Cerenzie (Blackout, Black Water Transit) created CP Productions to focus on the under-25 filmgoer."
-
Uwe Boll to direct?
Oh wait the article said "A-list" director. :laugh2:
Not gonna hold my breath on this one.
-
Aw, hell. I'll see it. I saw "Doom" opening weekend. :laugh2:
-
Long as they don't throw out the sound effects from the game - can't you imagine the little pitter patters of ostrich feet in LucasFilm (or whatever the heck they call it these days) sound? ;D

I hope it has better luck then all the other games that have been made into movies.
Doom
Mario Bros
Final Fantasy
Tomb Raider
Silent Hill
and others
Resident Evil ( I actually like this series of movies ) Probably the girl not the game
Edit: spelling
-
It'll be interesting to see if the "Halo" movie gets made... Apparently having Peter Jackson attached to direct isn't quite enough...

"The first of many projects coming from the new production studio is a new imagining of Midway Games' classic Joust arcade game"
Midway ? MIDWAY ?????? WILLIAMS, stupid A-holes !!!! There's only a plan and they already ---fudgesicle--- up !!!
:D

Midway owns the rights to Williams' video games.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams_Electronics
"Currently, Midway Amusement Games, L.L.C. owns the copyrights and trademarks in Williams' video game library, including Defender, Stargate, Robotron: 2084, Joust, and Smash TV."

I really liked the first Mortal Kombat movie, it was as good as the sequel was bad.
Feel free to chastise me, but I didnt know Joust even had a story line.

I thought the same thing when I picked up a midway classics GBA game. I expected Galaga/pacman, and instead got Joust/Sinistar/Defender/robotron.

You lose your street cred with stuff like this......at least with nerds like me ;D
"Joust is an arcade game that's as old as Pac-Man"
Pacman - 1979
Joust - 1982

Awesome. I don't care if it will be good or bad. A co-worker and I each built a cab last year and he keeps his at work. With a game list 3000 games long, everyone just plays Joust (except for me, I play Robotron) so I'm sure regardless whether it's good or bad, a lot of us will go just to get our chance to make Joust jokes.
I've always wondered why it is that when you die, you disappear with a poof, and when the baddies die, they turn into eggs.
