Title: Spinner doesn't work in mame 0.112
Post by: mathewbeall on August 23, 2007, 08:43:31 pm
Hi Folks!

I have had my (now 4th) cabinet for about 2 years.  I just recently upgraded to mame 0.112 from 0.95 and realized my trackball doesn't work in games like arkanoid and tempest.  It works perfectly fine in windows, and works perfectly fine if I use the mame version 0.95, but not 0.112...

Any ideas?!

Matt

If you're using seperate mame versions do they have their own mame .ini files? This might be too obvious but have you checked the mouse settings in the newer mame .ini?

I did check both ini files, and both have mouse set to "1"... if I run mame 0.112 from the commandline with "-mouse" it also doesn't work...

I just tried mame 0.118, and the spinner works there, so maybe 0.112 is messed up - I will upgrade...

What was the reason for upgrading from .95?

Your spinner works.  What's happening is your spinner isn't mouse 1, and the inputs are mapped to mouse 1.  This was common from 0.105u7-0.117.  Just remap (tab input this game, dial analog, enter, spin spinner).

FWIW, with 0.118, the default of mame is more like most apps: all mice type inputs are seen as one mouse.  While multiple mice can be used, this is not multiple mouse support, as the app (in this case mame) only sees one mouse.  To get true multiple mouse support (one mouse controls player 1, other controls player 2), enable -multimouse option.  Which might mean you need to remap as above, so don't enable this unless you want to play with multiple players (examples: marble madness, cabal, atari football, 4 player warlords, 4 player destruction derby).
