howdy
so i made the mistake of changing monitors while I was building my cabinet and now I have to decase my monitor so that it will fit
this means that i have to mount it instead of just setting it in there
i have a 31" (ish) gateway monitor that I wish to mount
it only has the four bolt holes on the corners of the unit
i have attached a picture of what I need
if anyone can help me out, i'd appreciate it
*note: i did find those monitor brackets on the slikstik website
i'd really hate to pay 50 dollars for 4 L brackets
has anyone used them?

I have the SS ones and they work great. I'm trying to buy another monitor on these forums from a guy in GA who is selling the brackets with it. If I get it, I'll sell you the brackets cheap. He hasn't replied to me in days though.

Go to Home depot, Lowes, hardware store, etc and buy four hefty L brackets and mount them as you wish using those four corner holes.
All depends on how your cab is built.
You can definitly do it cheaper than $48.00 for some dang brackets.

i decided to just throw it in the cabinet and put up a back with a hole in it for the time being

i looked around home depot and none of the brackets that i found looked half as strong as the ones from ss
right now i figure, as long as the front looks nice, who really cares about the back
on a side note, that boy is a beast, i managed to place it back in the arcade (i did have it in there before i moved into my new house) and it must weigh at least 100 lbs
it looks nice though, and it was a heck of a lot cheaper than a 30+" arcade monitor

Go with a bit lower guage if you think they're not sturdy enough... The standard monitor brackets most of my (all original) cabinets are just thin galvanized metal... My daughter could bend them if she wanted to... But, when the monitor is bolted to them, and they're bolted to the cab, you can't get any play out of them at all...
Honestly, I've seen other amusement companies using 2x4's when they spin a monitor, or try and interchange monitors from one cabinet to another...
Personally, I'd go with the L-Brackets from HD, or Lowes... 18 Guage or better I would imagine...

You must have overlooked them..... or you were looking for something different from what we're talking about. Because I've gotten some pretty beefy L type brackets from any of those places.

i was looking by all of the hardware (where all of the latches and hinges are)
i guess i'll go back and check again
i really wish they would list how much weight they can support
the reason I was wanting to try to find some brackets like the ones i have a picture for above was because then i could use a 2 x 4 and attach it to that (which would be crazy sturdy)
i'll be able to make something work...the fiance want's the arcade overlooking the stairs in my house, that happens to be the only place where you would be able to actually see the back
that means that i'm going to have to fix it so i'm not hanging out the back (i.e. use brackets)
at least the girl likes my hobby, it could be worse, she could want it in the garage...
now, i'm off to hack apart a power strip and listen to the aggie game on the radio
...maybe Michigan will fall far enough to bump up a&m >:D

The Home Depot near me only had "single width" L brackets, which really felt a bit anemic for even my 27" monitor.
Lowes had a variety of "double width" brackets, which are plenty sturdy.
I went with the 2x4 mounting rail setup myself. One for the top and one for the bottom edges of the monitor, and each held to the cabinet with a mounting bracket at each edge. If you really wanted to make it super duty you could put a mounting bracket on both the front and back of the 2x4 where it butts up to the cabinet.
I love the SlikStik control panels and spinners, but $48 for the angle brackets seemed pretty steep to me.
