Hey guys, what grit sandpaper would u recommend I use for sanding down an already painted cab in order to get it ready for "repaint"?
Thanks in advance!

I would use 60 or 80 on a random orbit sander. Then follow up with 120 prior to painting with primer then color coats.

Thank you!

If you want to strip off all of the existing paint, start with 60-grit. If you're going to paint over the existing paint, read the label on your new paint and see if it has any suggestions. If not, I'd start with 100- or 120-grit then maybe follow-up with 150 grit.

Well... I'm not sure exactly what I wanna do... Meaning, if I wanna go all the way down to bare wood, or just remove the upper layer of paint, then repaint... I know there are a couple of spots I have to repair... So I'd definately wanna try and get to bare wood on those areas...
Either way, I just want it to look really good and smooth... So I suppose I could try to go with a higher grit (eg 120 or so) and see what it's looking like, then if need be, switch to the lower (60-80) grit paper...
Thanks again guys!

If you are going to paint over the existing paint all you need to do is scuff the surface really well. This gives the new paint something to grab onto and stick. If you want a nice smooth surface, do your repairs first and make sure you over fill the holes. Then sand the filled areas to the same level of the paint. Give the whole cab a good scuff and you should be good to go.

Ahh Good idea Katrim! Less work than sanding down to bare wood... I think I'll have a go at that first and see how it turns out... Again, thanks!
Too bad u can't sand blast wood... I have a nice pressurized sandblaster that would speed things up a lot...
It'll be good to have on those metal CP's, and Marquee retainers though! ;D Then I may even be able to powder coat them as well...
I may offer that as a service to all who have metal CPs... :P
