Title: Mounting a 19" monitor in a 25" Dynamo Cab
Post by: rotheblog on August 20, 2007, 11:09:10 am
Has anyone here done this?  I did a search, but most of the results I got where talking about what size monitor could fit, not how it was mounted.  I have a Dynamo cab that can fit a 25" monitor, but I only have a 19".

Are there some brackets that people have used to do this?  I am not much into carpentry, and worry about the weight of any monitor in a custom situation that I might build, that is why I was hoping for some sort of metal monitor brackets that might work.

Thanks for the help.

I'd recommend you cut a piece of plywood to fit the cabinet on the monitor mounts (the 2x4's inside the cabinet to mount the monitor mounts to), then cut out a hole for the monitor. My dynamo cabinet was done this way, as were alot of cabinets. Here is a link to Knevil's twin Taito project that kind of outlines the monitor mount I am speaking of.

Thanks for the reply, this would be kind of like an Atari Dig Dug.  I hadn't thought of that yet, that is a good idea.

I still don't have the tools to do this even, I don't have much of any carpentry tools.

So if anyone else reads this, there is one solution, but is there a solution where I can just buy some parts to throw in to the cab and have it solve the problem?

On mine, I builted a shelf to seat the monitor on their, but that's assuming that your is not an arcade monitor.

Chances are that no one will sale parts ready made for your problem.  If you really need this done for you, you will have to hire someone to do the work.

Thanks for the other two replies, I am going to go the wood route, I think I may have found someone who has some scrap.  I just have to check the thickness and I am good to go.

If that falls thru, you can buy 1/4 or 1/2 sheets at Home Depot. I bought a 2'x2' sheet of plywood for my monitor mount for a few bucks at HD a while back.
