Title: Stupid question: Can you hack the OSD / Teletext features on TVs?

OK might sound a silly question and even if possible would probably be too much hassle, but I have wondered for a while:

I imagine OSDs and Teletext (etc) are supplied through some kind of pure RGB, and wondered if anyone has ever hacked whatever supplies these, to use as an input?
