Radica golden tee Plug N Play for $8.oo
I have been waiting for these things to go down in price. The Toys R Us I went to today had 4 of them left, they were reduced with a sticker price of $9.95 but when the product was scanned in it rang up at $7.95
I don't know if anyone has hacked these to work with MAME yet. The track ball works very well except for the fact that once your hand leaves the track ball, the ball immediately stops spinning. And they are smaller then 3"
Just wanted to let you guys know about the good price found at Albuquerque NM's Toys R Us.
I think the only reason why the track ball stops moving when your hand leaves it, is because the track ball is probably very light weight. when you do move the track ball, it feels very smooth with a gliding feel to it and seems to be very sensitive and accurate. Definitely worth $8.oo

Isn't that the exact opposite of working well?
I am almost ashamed to admit it, but I have never played Golden Tee. From all descriptions I have heard of it though, it seems like a strong continuous spin is a must.

The continuous spin isn't so important to the game, but that's half the fun at the bar is wailing on that thing.

I dislike golf outside of the rare video game and I'm yet another who hasn't played Golden Tee, but I'm sure I could hack something into it. I'm pretty sure my little brother hits Golden Tee at the bars, so it'd be something for us to play together or to give to him when I've played five games and give it up.
Thanks for the heads-up.

I hacked one of these for my mame cabinet.
It works quite well and sits in it's own box which was great as i had no room on the panel. Obvioulsy not as good as a the real thing bu works ok. The golden tee game on it is complete rubbish. Works well with the pc version once hacked.
Check out his thread for pics etc.

hmmmm going to stop by Toys R us today, thanks for the heads up

I guess the next challenge is finding a heavy replacement ball that fits. So what size is it exactly?
-
If I'm down in the area this weekend, I'll check TRU out. Looks like this would be a neat tinkering project...not like I have a whole garage of projects or anything... :dunno ;D

the toys r us near me had none.... actually they had crap for plug and plays

.... actually they had crap for plug and plays
I'm not sure I'd put that in my TV inputs.

So what you are saying is they had all the star wars ones?

I will have to go check these out, I use them for the lcd screen in the wife's Armada. Already have WPT and Sega Genesis. A little golden tee while on a trip will be great fun, especially for $8 :applaud:
