Latest death toll is over 330 with over 1350 injured. Details are still very sketchy as the worst of the damage happened in the rural areas where construction standards were poor. There has even been some serious damage in the capital of Lima. I have in-laws in Lima which was only 90 miles from the epicenter. They are fine but everyone is quite shaken from the experience. The quake lasted nearly 2 min and created a small tsunami. Some reports say that there were two quakes (7.9 & 7.7) only seconds apart. There have been numerous aftershocks over 5.0 and even a 6.0 early this morning.
I ask for your prayers for the dead, injured and other survivors.
Thank you,

According to the latest USGS survey (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2007gbcv.php#details) it is now stated as an 8.0 quake.

Having lived in South America for a couple of years I know how bad these situations can be. The houses simply aren't built to withstand much, let a lone an 8.0 earthquake. It's a terrible situation and it breaks my heart thinking of what the people in that area must be going through right now.
