I have an outrun upright cabinet (which was subject to fire damage) it's cleaned up pretty nicely now so I went about installing a pc inside & a new 19"pentranic with the intention of running outrun on it again, or at least to use it as a driving cabinet. I would like to use the original control's for obvious reason's but am at a bit of a loss as how to connect them up. I went ahead of myself and ordered load's of bit's from ultimarc for a few project's I have in the pipeline so got amongst other thing's an optipac thinking it would be easy enough but really don't know what to put where. Any help would be much appreciated to point me in the right direction.
It's a 270^ wheel and all the pot's are intact, the control's & mainboard were all that survived!

For pots, you need the APac (or similar products like AKI). An optipac is for optical encoders on stuff such as trackballs, spinners and 360 wheels.
Pots are pretty easy to wire. There's three wires. One end is wired to power, the other to gound (usually you can switch the two to switch increase/decrease sides). The middle wire is the sensor wire and wired as such. The apac2 (http://www.ultimarc.com/a-pac2.html) shows this pretty clearly, but the original apac (http://www.ultimarc.com/a-pac1.html) is not labeled as clearly (probably since it can also do digital joystick inputs and labeled for that). Make sure whatever you wire the POT to can work with the POT value, too.

Many thanks for the replies. I was being a bit dim when I ordered the optipac thinking that the wheel was just a spinner that had limited travel and would still work, that's obviously not the case ::) I have just ordered the apac and after reading the ultimarc website further I realy should have spotted that!!! I thank you for the help u_rebelscum and will keep this thread updated with the progress. :)
