I get into my car to head off for work this morning. A block down the road the car is making strange grinding noises and jerking wildly. :dizzy: I pull over and now I have problems trying to shift into any gear except reverse. ??? So I try to limp it back home leaving a puddle of tranny fluid and parts on the road. :hissy: The transmission finally gives up the ghost and I am still not home. :badmood: I ended up walking the rest of the way home. :notworthy: At least I have a friend that has access to a tow truck. He brought my car home and will try to find a new transmission for the car. :timebomb:
Just had to vent, TTFN
Kaytrim
:'( If anyone wants to help I am taking orders for custom sticks.

Mine is on its way out. When it is cold I have to rev the engine in Drive to get moving...once it warms up it is all good, but the time it takes to get moving is slowly increasing every time I use it. Damnit.

what sort of car is it?

It takes guts to announce to the world that you blew a tranny, Charlie Sheen would be proud ;D

you might just be low on fluid or need a new filter.
A bottle of Trans-X would prolong its life if it is on the outs.

1997 Hyundai Elantra 162,000 miles. Transmission has been giving me problems for months. My mechanic friend says it would be about $1k to replace. Maybe it is time to get a new car.

Where do you even go to buy a replacement tranny? And how do you know the tranny wants to go with you in the first place?
