What would an Atari Asteroids upright machine in decent condition be worth, I don't know if it works or not, but is supposedly complete and been in storage for a long time.

100% working should be around $500 minimum
i did bought my cocktail asteroids table for $90
but it was 1/2 empty :P

Haven't seen the machine yet, just going on the description of the person who has it, (they said it is in storage and they don't know if it works now) hopefully I will get to see it sometime this week, thanks for the ball park figure for a working one, I have pinball machines, and a Krull stand up, but wouldn't mind having another arcade machine if the price and condition is right. I know more about pins, so I figured I would ask you guys what it might be worth because I don't have a clue.

When you go there, check the art work, if the side are in good shape, marquee and cpo
if that not the case you can use it to reduce the price.
then open the back door and check if everything is there:
pcb, monitor, audio board ...
and power it on...
if it work, look at the monitor in particular, if the picture is crisp, graphics ...
if it does not work, and if it is in good shape. go for $200 IMO

I'm planning on dropping $500 on an Asteroids today. It's in GREAT shape though.

A quick bit of advice for you: Do not touch anything on the machine unless the owner is watching you. One time I went to check out a machine at a guys , and he had two for sale. He had turned both of them on for me, but he wasn't home - his wife was there. I didn't even pay attention to the other one until I was about to leave, satisfied that I would be buying the one I came for. I looked over and noticed the screen was rolling. I decided to be nice and adjust his monitor for him. Well when I called to arrange pickup, the guy accused me of causing the rolling, as "it had never done it before". Damn that pissed me off royally. As an act of good faith, I went ahead and bought that machine too since it was only $50.
So, moral of the story as stated: Don't touch anything without the owner standing there.

Ok guys thanks for the replies, I will let you know how it tuns out, as for touching machines with out the person there, I know what you mean, I restore, and work on old cars as another hobby, and have run into the same problem, I have even helped people fix one problem and then they get mad because something else broke afterwards( weeks, days later), and said they never had a problem until I told the to change something and that my advice broke the car! I have learned in certain situations it is sometime best to keep you mouth shut, and your hands to yourself! LOL! Sometimes it doesn't pay to be a nice guy, unless you know the person and how they are going to react.
