Title: 25" Philips w/s-video and component
Post by: ilsiu on April 27, 2003, 07:08:21 pm
Hi everybody -

I've been a lurker for a while, but I wanted to share a deal I came across that people who are looking for a 25" s-video TV may find interesting.

Sam's Club (at least in Minnesota) is currently selling a Philips 25" TV with S-video and component video inputs for only $198.  I just picked one up today, and it will remember the last mode (s-video or component) it was in after it turns off.  I checked out s-video output with a few games and they look really good (although I can only compare to a 19" computer monitor).  The only drawback is that the speakers are on the side, so it makes the box very wide - 28".  I'm planning to build a cabinet around this, so I either can make it really wide or remove it from the case and detach the speakers.

Anyway, it seems that this is a pretty popular size among cabinet builders and it's difficult to find a 25" TV with s-video, so I thought I'd share.

That is a good deal!  Best Buy carries a 25" Philips model with the same specs too:

Remember. A television tube will bolt into an arcade frame of the same size. So if you get a 25" tv that you want to use, you can get an old arcade monitor frame, and bolt it in. That keeps your tube protected, and makes it so much easier to mount.

That's the exact model that Sam's Club is carrying.  Unfortunately, it's not listed on their website (the 27" model is), so you have to go to the store.

Does anyone know what the width of such frame would be?
