Title: Help setting up new (old stock) arcade machine
Post by: electricd on August 01, 2007, 10:50:15 am
Hello,

I am setting up my arcade machine that has been sitting in storage for a year or so now.  Here is what i have...computer running the AVGA card (the one with 1 VGA and 1 S-video), 33" D9200 monitor, Mamewah.  What I would like to know is the settings I should be using in my mame.ini under the ### Windows video options ### for optimal viewing.  I also used the mame resolution tool to create my ini files so that the games would display their native resolution.  I plan on running MameWah at 800 x 600.  Is there anything I am missing in regards to video?  I have installed the driver and control panel from the cd for this card.  thanks!

Are you dead set on using mamewah?  It isn't as popular as it was last year.

I use mala and setting up the video was as easy as selecting 640x432 in the options settings.  It then automatically sets up mame to run at this resolution.

AtomicFE also uses graphical options for calibrating the frontend.

I was once going to use mamewah, but mala has so many special hardware features that I couldn't use anything else now.

I am not deadset on MameWah, its just what I currently know.  Can Mala do other emulators such as daphne, and nes, snes as well?  Maybe I should look into it?
