I have a three-sided cocktail and I'm having problems getting Mala to rotate the right way for vertical games. I'm using Mala RC9a Beta 2 1.0.2.1.
I have it set to flip (since monitor is mounted upside-down) and to auto-rotate the GUI based on the last game played. This works great except that it's 180 degrees off when it returns from vertical games. MAME itself rotates the games the right way, it's just Mala that isn't. Here's the relevant bits from MALA.INI:
[GUI]
RotateClockwiseOnVertical=0
Flip=1
[MAME]
AutoRotate=1
AutoRotateMaLa=1
In MAME.INI:
rotate 1
autorotatel 1
At first I thought RotateClockwiseOnVertical is what I needed, but it does nothing. Possibly due to AutoRotateMala being set?
I'm probably just missing the magic combination of settings. Any advice appreciated.

Wow.. .ini postings. How very Mamewah like :laugh:
anyway... This is what I tried here in the MaLa Lab that worked for me:
[GUI]
RotateClockwiseOnVertical=1
RotateGameLists=1
Flip=0
[MAME]
AutoRotate=0
AutoRotateMaLa=1
Probably bypassing the MaLa options gui and editing the .ini by hand is not a good idea in general. For example the gui would not allow you to have autorotate and autorotate mala both set to 1

Yeah, I'd fiddled with the INI earlier, didn't think about that.
The settings you list are closer. Mala is facing the right way after vertical games now, but it's upside down for horizontal ones.
Since my monitor is upside down in the cab, I'd added "flipx 1" and "flipy 1" to rom-specific INI files for all horizontal games. So currently MAME flips them over correctly, but Mala doesn't flip over after playing them.
I thought the game-specific INI change was the way to do that, but I'm probably mistaken. Is there a better way that keeps Mala in sync with it?
Thanks.

Try Right clicking on with mouse and selecting flip when it's upside down..
See attached pic.. It should remember that

If I do that, the vertical orientation flips again, making it wrong. Then I tried rotating so the horiz. is right and changing the "rotate clockwise on vertical" option, but that appears to do nothing.

Set the 'rotate clockwise on vertical' option. Quit MaLa. Then re-load mala.
For some reason that option does not get taken up straight away

Still does nothing.
Is there another setting that's causing that one to be ignored, maybe?

:dunno
I just tried to emulate your set-up.
When using auto rotate mode it seems you can have the vertical on either side but the horizontal only on one side it seems.
Only thoughts are
1) Use Mala controller mapping instead
2) Turn your monitor the right way around
Sorry

Ok. I can't flip the monitor at this point, but I can probably swap the two end panels. That combo appears to work.
Thanks for the help.

Kewl...
Just in case you didn't know you can rotate the monitor to suit your set-up when using 'controller mapping'
Just double click on the monitor pic
See attached pic (I circled the part your double click on)

Update on this.
I realized I needed to rotate my Windows desktop 180 anyway, so I used IRotate to do that and now the Mala rotation options work out. No panel-swapping needed. :)
