I wanted some lights that were sound activated and ran across Clonestar's excellent Juke.
I googled "color organs", "light organs", "color light organs", "disco lights" and a couple others, and searched ebay extensively, but couldn't find the lights and electronics as a complete package. (I could find the electronic board & plans).
Any help or a name to search on would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in the US (Clonestar mentioned a UK store I'm not familiar with and the link he provided doesn't appear to stock the any longer)
Here's a short vid of what I'm looking for. (Clonestar, hope you don't mind I copied the link)
www.rawdistribution.co.uk/silverballs/duke/MOV03509.MPG (http://www.rawdistribution.co.uk/silverballs/duke/MOV03509.MPG)
right click and save target as otherwise streaming the file you won't see the effect at all.
Here's a link the Clonestar's project, turned out great. Very visual!

This place stocks them but seems to be out of stock now :(http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=LIGHT-ORGAN-922&cat=GDT (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=LIGHT-ORGAN-922&cat=GDT)

That's IT!!!! That's perfect. That's what I'm looking for.
That's................. out of stock! :-[
(How did you ever find that???) THANKS
I found another place (Tekgems) that has them, but they too are out of stock / discontinued.
http://tekgems.com/Products/et-21201-con-light-organ-922.htm (http://tekgems.com/Products/et-21201-con-light-organ-922.htm)
I'm concerned that they may have been discontinued.
Still looking. Anybody else seen these anywhere??

there are tons of kits out there, with even basic soldering skills you could put one together pretty quickly.
if you don't want to put one together still check your local electronics store, i know my local one sells "pre-built" kits... that is kits that are already assembled. I have seen ones that can either drive LED's or even 110v lights!
-
Those at geeks.com use batteries to power them ..... I bet they run out pretty quickly if you leave them on in your jukebox cabinet for a few hours while music is playing. Plugging them into an outlet would be much better in my opinion. I guess it obviously depends what you want to use them for .... oh well.
-
unclet, yea, I realized they were battery operated, but I planned to wire them to walworts.
tba, do you have a link to any of the kits? I'm experienced at soldering, but I didn't see any kits with the lights, in my investigation. I'd prefer a 110v kit. I'll take a look, but I'm not familiar with any electronics stores around us. I thnik the big chains forced them out of the area.
-
I would be highly interested in this as well. Great work fellas!
-
well i ha vent seen a 110v one in a year or two (but i ha vent been looking lately either) but my local electronics store has these:

in either kit or preassembled and they do ship if you wanted to order from there... but without too much looking i am sure you can find them.

This page has about every color organ kit currently made.

sorry most of the link's are dead :(

tba, maybe I'm overlooking it. I got a link to "Fuses And Holders: Circuit Breakers" (?)
andiamo-racing, thanks. I ran across that site too already in my searches and it looks to have some excellent electronic "brains" for the color-organ, but I was looking for the lights too. Some of the units looked great, and if I can't find a complete kit with lights, I may resort to building my own. I can solder fairly well, but not comfortable with wiring schematics of this magnitude. And of course I liked the most expensive one on the page and the link is dead.
Still looking for the complete kit, like LIGHT-ORGAN-922 mentioned at the top of the post.
Anybody seen any of these anywhere???
-
Look under products/kits/light effect circuits
http://www.canakit.net/ (http://www.canakit.net/)
sorry not ready made but fairly cheap and will run 120V
-
thanks boba, but I'm still short the lights and I'm afraid the wiring / circuits would be beyond me.
If anyone is interested, this one is a bit beyond my price range, so feel free to bid on it :laugh2:

i've run into a brick wall on locating this item:

has anyone seen them or know where I might still find them?

TBA, maybe I'm overlooking it. I got a link to "Fuses And Holders: Circuit Breakers" (?)
lol, i don't know how that happened, but i guess you don't need a replacement circuit breaker for my microwave!

prebuilt kit, not sure how the lights connect but it can be that hard.
sorry, vacation delayed my answer.
good luck.
-
yeah, I saw several different pre-built kits, but I was looking for something ready-to-mount.
I'm still considering a kit if I can't locate the units above.

...I know you're looking for that original one, but this seemed like it might be a straight forward solution...

I found a guy who made his own. I wish I could make one that was 20 channels across and ten to fifteen high. But I would need full details on how to make it. :dunno That one on ebay was 10 channels. I emailed them about making a custom one, but I never heard anything back.

I have heard back from the guy at Audiolites. His name is Alex and he has been great. Everything is sick expensive, but after pricing parts out, looking at labor, and sizing up the scope of what I'm looking for, I believe I'm going to pay the man his ransom for the custom display I want. Talks are in progress, so I'll update as things are worked out. All I'm gonna say is this:
20 channel x 15/20 level UV meter. The size? 11" x 22" Does anyone know of led's that look like the old school 12v bulbs in appearance?

I bought some pre-built kits a while back, but the item in this original post looks awesome. Sucks that it can't be located anywhere :( It would be cool to have a pre built light-organ 'tower'
