Title: Flush trim (clamping problem)
Post by: Molinero on July 29, 2007, 10:00:40 am
I'm in the process of making a small juke and I have a problem. I've cut the wood with my jig saw and want to flush trum the edges to get them straight. This is not a problem I've done it before. The problem is that some of the pieces are rather small (5cm x30 cm) and I want to trim the 30 cm edge. I cannot find a method for clamping this down without have to move the clamps down the road. I clamp then flush 2-3 cm and then have to move the clamps to make room for the router base. This results in me getting the wood moved away from my straight edge - result: no straight edge on the wood because of all the moving.  :hissy:

Could someone point me to a small jig (I can make) or something similar? How do you flush trim small pieces?

careful measuring and cutting is what I do for small pieces.

If it's a little bigger, I'll sand down the difference.

You could screw it to a larger base piece and clamp the base piece down.  Screw from the underside into the good piece only on a side that will not show the screw hole when you are finished.
