I am about to start work on my cabinet, and with the large amount of wiring, slide on connectors, butt connectors, etc I am going to need.
Any one have recommendations to help save a few bucks?

There's quite a few option:
If you have not order your parts yet and play on ordering it thru one of the deal here, I see that divemaster has the quick disconnect pretty cheap.
As for wires, it also depend on what encoder you got. If you got one of those cheap one like minipac or eco wiz, all you need is one or 2 ide cable for the wiring. There's also plenty of people here that simple use cat 5 cable.
For one of mine, i just pickup all the wires and connector at the local home depot. their quick discount are about 7 bucks, a bit oversize, but easily fix by the plier.

I found the best place to buy hang-up wire is at Ace Hardware If you have any of those around. You can buy like 100' rolls for little to nothing (~$5). Best deal I had found anywhere.
As for quick-disconnects id say hit up divemaster or check them out locally they are usually pretty $$ if you are buying them in the 20-50 packs.
