Post by: rollerball on July 27, 2007, 05:00:43 am
Hey Guys hows things...

Im from Sydney Australia...Ok Ive got a couple of questions...cant think of anyone better to ask than you guys...if you could help in anyway that would be GREAT...

Ok Ive got an Outrunners twin cab I bought a little while ago..great fun...and Ive spotted this on Ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150143408242&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting

An Exhaust Note twin Board....

I just wanted to know if it is poss to use this board inside my outrunners twin cab at all???They are both jamma but it looks like the Exhaust Note is 2 boards and the Outrunners that i own is one multi board...

Could you just plug the board straight into the jamma connectors??Or could you do damage??Or wouldnt work ect???

Just trying to find out if its worth buying the board or not...or if it would even work???Or if its even worth buying it at all??

anyway any advice would be FANTASTIC...

thanks in advance...

CHEERS...

They aren't a direct swap and it isn't just the wiring. They don't use the exact same controls either. So even custom wiring isn't going to do it, not without a different shifter. I haven't read the manuals on them, but they do seem to use compatible wheels and pedals, but not shifters. Outrunners has a 2 position single switch shifter while Exhaust Note has two toggle shifters.

Putting both of them in the same cabinet is possible but it is not a beginner project. JAMMA has little meaning when it comes to driving games, very little meaning, it means that the video, audio and power will be jamma, the controls will vary wildly from one game to another. Very few jamma driving games are direct swaps for other ones, even from the same manufacturers.

Honestly I wouldn't want to mess up a perfectly good outrunners machine making the modifications needed, since doing it would require adding controls to a fiberglass panel OR finding a pair of wheels with toggle shifters and confusing the heck out of everyone by having two different shifters.

There are other driving games that do use the same controls. One of them would be a better option.

Also, note the same exact person who "Cannot test this board" is also selling a cabinet that it could be tested in. Red flag if I ever saw one.
