Title: Possible Flyback Problem
Post by: DAMiGG on July 26, 2007, 08:48:22 am
Hi Everyone  :D

First time post...hope I am in the right spot with all the right information.

I have attached photos of my game monitor that is in the vertical position in a Centipede upright cabinet.

I was playing it a couple days when the monitor went blank and started making sounds like someone welding.
So I opened the back up to take a look to see what the problem was.

I immediately unplugged it took some pictures then used Photoshop and made a fake arc to show where the real arc was coming from.

I have also included the only sticker photos that I could find that give any kind of reference the boards. The monitor is a 19" RCA and I believe a Wells Gardner monitor.

What should I do from here?   :dunno

Not the worst thing in the world.  Looks like you have a K7000.  Flybacks for that are cheap.

Wow!

Thanks for all the great help so far. I really like the "Not the worst thing in the world" line.
But I also like the word cheap.

So where would I find the cheap ones or would it be better just take it out and take it to a tv repair place?

Again thanks for the great help

Look at that label again. It decodes as a 19" U3100 series. I have never encountered one of those.

I should have realized by the flyback being located on the right side of the PCB.

Wow, $104.  But that's @ Happ.  Others have to have them much cheaper.  They're listing K7000 flybacks for like $40, but you can get them as low as $20 if you look.

Is it possible or should I even try to use ebay to find one? Because I agree the $104 is not all that cheap.

I also have just got an Omega Race cabinet to get started on and I don't want to go through this again. What monitors do you all recommend for MAME and PCs?

Of course you can try.  Whether you find one or not remains to be seen.
