So my friend Chad is left handed. Apparently nobody at redoctane is though since they still have not released a left handed SG.
I had a spare so I sold it to Chad. He went out and bought some epoxy and bondo and we got to work.
First we formulated our plan of attack.
-
When we thought it looked good we cut the whammy bar support out.
-
This is the part that holds the tilt sensor. We could have fitted it in the flipped SG in some custom way but figured it'd be easier to reuse the existing mount so we cut it out.
-
Here is the new position of the whammy bar. It's not exactly symmetrically placed compared to the original position but we had to stay away from the part of the guitar body that slants off.
-
In this picture you can see to the left of the guitar, the piece that holds the tilt sensor and the two other pieces of original guitar that came from the place where the whammy bar was relocated to. Also, you can see the whammy bar's support has been epoxied in it's new location. The white you see is a piece of a computer monitor stand that I had lying around as scrap. It goes over both the guitar body and the relocated piece to act as support. It along with the SG are both ABS plastic so I figured if the epoxy stuck to the one it would stick to the other. It is only on three sides because when we cut out the whammy bar support we had to stay away from the start/select buttons and therefor didn't have a place to glue the support piece to.

Here you can see where we used more scrap ABS as backing and epoxied the crap out of everything.
-
Kinda slipped the mind that when we started bondoing something would need to back all the holes, especially the two we created by cutting out the tilt sensor support. Unfortunately, we were out of epoxy and ABS so we substituted a CD case and SuperGlue... So far it seems to be holding.
-
Yay Bondo!
-
Had to move the strap peg. Unlike the original position which was between the two halves both with 1/2 a hole we just drilled a hole in the back half and superglued it in place.
-
Sanding of bondo has been done. Here's the first fit test. The wires to the tilt sensor weren't quite long enough so it is not where it should be but everything else went together smoothly.

Same here.

Ditto.

Alright, this should be enough. 8)

I'm a lefty. I just assumed that meant I'd never play GH so I try to ignore the threads on it. Maybe there's hope. :P

Will the game let you flip the display so that your friend doesn't have to reverse the direction of the fret buttons as well?

Yes.
