Title: Emulating Ridge Racer, Sega Rally, Daytona USA
Post by: ARTIFACT on July 23, 2007, 11:15:24 pm
... I know some of these "KIND OF" run with MAME 117 (SLOW! unplayable) BUT are there specialized system emulators that run these games smoothly today?

I aks because I haven't kept up with the status of emulation for recent 3D games over the last few years... Thanks for telling me the latest :)

I understand that Ridge Racer is a "SYSTEM 22" game.

(P IV 2.8 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce MX 4)

Hey matey,

Sega Rally and Daytona can be run with this Model 2 Emulator (http://nebula.emulatronia.com/index.php) (it's kind of a side project of the Nebula team).
There's two versions within the same download, the single core and dual core. Not tried the single core, but the dual core works beautifully (though not perfectly).

As for Ridge Racer, the only System 22 emulator I know of is Viva Nonno (http://vivanonno.vg-network.com/), which is very much in it's early stages. Ridge Racer (1) is not supported yet, but Ridge Racer 2 is.

Hope this helps  ;)
