Title: Semi-Gloss paint in the UK?
Post by: pboreham on July 22, 2007, 01:48:25 pm
I'm trying to find some semi-gloss paint to start painting my cab, but I cannot find it anywhere - though we only have B&Q and Wickes, and a few little stores here.

Sooooo...

1) Is it called anything else?
2) Can I buy it online? (been searching without much luck).
3) Can I use a different paint - Matte, Satin??

I've got some primer here which is a PVA Bonding/Water mix which I am going to apply tonight, then its a bit of sanding and painting - the 'Fozzy' way!

Thanks for any help, Paul

Not sure what it may be called in the UK but Satin is less glossy then Semi Gloss but better then flat.

In order of shine.
Gloss
Semi Gloss
Satin
Matte/Flat

Have a look here:  http://www.wood-finishes-direct.com/

I know they do coloured lacquers/varnishes in all grades (matt to gloss), and I think if you phone them they can do the paint too.  Very helpful on the phone, reasonable prices and quick delivery.  I recently bought some wood stain and pva glue from there, and the service was excellent.

Good luck

Thanks Jimbo - tracked some down to a site called 'greengoods' or something based in Gloucester (paint should be watered down... sorry!).
