Do you guys see problem(s) with top-mounting joysticks (MAG STICK PLUS x 2) on my "ARTIFACT CAB (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=68794.0)" 's CP?
I like the look of the metal plates :) ... and I ordered regular length sticks (red ball) which are it seems for top mounting

Some preview plans of my CP with flush, top-mounted Mag Stick PLUS joysticks (artwork not shown, cab colors not final):

you have to make new wide mountplante, from aluminium

regular it will be too high. Andy sell shorter balltop for metal panel. Battop (III groove 70mm) for metal panel you will buy only in iL

Thanks for replying!
ARGH I see... Thanks for posting the picture with circled switches, etc... It makes sense... I had a feeling when I did the CAD drawings.I just ordered from Divemaster: 2 Mag Stick PLUS + red ball top sticks ("regular" length) - that's all I know about what I am getting :)
I'll mount them from under then... What people usually do I think - from looking at people's CPs here.
(I didn't understand "Andy sell shorter balltop for metal panel. Battop (III groove 70mm) for metal panel you will buy only in iL " ... Illinois?)
Thanks

"regular length" is short baltop - my fault. it will be OK in metal panel

I need to order something ... from Spain?
If I mount them from under ... regular length is too short to do that?
I messaged Divemaster to switch with longer length balltop sticks ... if my order wasn't shipped yet (I have a feeling he already shipped my stuff).
I am really confused now!

my CP is 3/4" (~19mm)
Isn't there enough space between the mountplate and the connectors? (attaching a picture)
Especially if I use the router to cut an inset at the top to flush the mountplate?
I guess I just need ot wait for the control parts to arrive, and assess ... IF Divemaster replies and has time to switch my balltops to the longer length model then I can mount under and it'll be ok I think. My bad for not planning this with more attention.
We'll see!
thanks

You could top mount the plate by routing the area underneath to clear your connectors . You would be routing on top for the plate and underneath to clear the connectors.

Perfect!
I'll do that then.
Thank you very much.

There is no need to do anything special, just remove the faceplate from the joystick (4 screws) , cut the correct size hole in the panel, recess the faceplate into the top and mount it, then screw back the body of the stick onto the faceplate.

I recently bought 2 of the Mag Stick Plus joysticks from Ultimarc, and I plan on mounting them this way too. Seems easy enough but I think I'll need to remove the joystick shaft if I want to put the dust washer on top of the CP... just have to remember how to assemble it again!

I am in the process of cuttnig out my control panel and am using the magstick plus stick.
I had planned on top mounting and have actually already cutout an area large enough for the middle section of the stick to fit iun from the bottom. I had planned to use the top mounting plate to sandwich the 3/4" mdf cp.
My concern looking at it now is that even though the mounting plate for the stick will set flush wth the top, the screws, holes, and plate edges will be visible indentions through my cp graphics. Any ideas?
