Hmmmmm?
-
looks like crap to me.
-
that 4-way cutout is going to tear itself to shreds. It has those little edges on it, those will wear off.
-
Yup!
Kinda wondered why the guy didn't show a pic of the entire stick.
That bottom guideplate did look a bit flimsy.
Guess tman1212 will find out for sure.
Wonder if he is a regular here?
-
Thats a Sanwa stick, they make quality sticks. But that restrictor plate does look kinda funky. Worth $8 to see how it works.
-
for 8 bucks i woulda checked it out just for funkiness sake 8)

My brother's Sega Astro City cabinet had those joysticks. They're pretty small but work well.
-
Yes, as a matter of fact, he is a regular here...that would be me...
I received it today, and it looks like a well built stick. The spring is a little loose (I may try putting a stiffer one in it), and I use Oscar restrictor's anyway, so the plastic ones will be coming off...
It is most similar to a Happ's Super...the microswitches have the metal bar actuators on them. However, these ones do hit the diagonals very nicely.
I will have a better idea on things after I get it installed into a control panel, but it looks like it will be a decent stick...

Thanks for the feedback tman2k

The joystick is actually made by Seimitsu (http://www.seimitsu.co.jp/). However they do feel and look (at least externally) very similar to the Sanwa joysticks. They are often used in modern Sega cabinets.
I own one that is similar to the blue one (3rd down, ref LS-32) on Seimitsu's website. Don't be fooled by the picture. These joysticks are actually pretty tough, I've had no problems with the restrictor plate on mine.
The joystick is particularly precise in 4 way mode because the restrictor plate has a kind of 4 leaf clover pattern instead of the usual diamond.
The only thing I really don't like about these joysticks (and the Sanwa ones) is the very weak springs that they are fitted with. If anyone knows where a stronger spring can be obtained I would be grateful.

These are similar to the J-Sticks sold by Ultimarc (Sanwa)
I have both and am building sticks out of them as well as Happ sticks.
If you are a super precise fighting gameplayer, you'll be able to utilize the super accurate movements of these sticks. They are very common in the Japanese arcade and are the true stick for Virtua Fighter.
I have a "bat/oval" top variant of the Sanwa in my personal stick. I call it my Hardwood prototype "Signature Stick". See my site for a picture... It's the one in the varnished hardwood.
