Title: 3D cab models or how to convert them ?
Post by: Level42 on July 20, 2007, 04:54:57 pm
I'm currently "designing" my to be built gameroom. I'm using a nice little program  called Live Interior 3D (http://www.belightsoft.com/products/liveinterior/overview.php) for this, which is very easy to use.

Now, it would be great to already put 3D models of the cabs I own in the room, so I can see what is best in the set-up etc.

Live Interior 3D has the possibility to import 3D shapes, amongst others from Google's 3D warehouse. However there are only a few cabs on there.

I know that there are a lot of cabs in 3D on this site: http://3darcade.mameworld.net/, but the file format is not compatible with what I can import in Live Interior 3D. The files it can handle are Google Sketchup, 3D studio and Ogre XML.

Is there any program that can convert the files on the site I mentioned (.W3D and .MAX files) to the format Live Interior 3D needs ?

There is a 30 day free trial of 3D Studio Max you can download. In theory you should be able to to open .max files and export them to .3ds.
