Title: Macbook pro graphics?
Post by: cowguy on July 20, 2007, 03:20:27 pm
I was wondering if any of you know if a macbook pro has an upgradeable graphics card, because I see on the apple website you can choose to have the 256 or 128 wasn't sure if it was internal or not.

I believe this is a factory "build to order" option only and not user upgradeable.

Most modern laptops theoretically can have their video cards upgraded, but I honestly have never actually heard of it being done. They all tend to have proprietary connectors and weird form factors of their heatsinks, so you can really only buy them from the company that originally sold you the laptop and, usually, they're so expensive most people would just rather buy a new system.

that refers to the onboard ram for the graphics card.  the main chip stays the same.  I can say, my brother in-law just bought one of these and even with only the 128 meg graphics that thing blows away anything i've seen on a laptop.  truly Awesome lcd they have now.

 :( i dont have one
