Title: Arcade controls and console games
Post by: rlehm on July 19, 2007, 07:46:53 pm
Hi,

I am buying a control panel from slikstik. It comes with software that installs it. I assume it will be installed in a way that it is seen as a controller for console games.

Has anyone put console game emulation like nes or sega master system on their mame cabs? if so, were you able to use the arcade controls (joystick + buttons?)

thanks,

rlehm

The simple answer is yes...this will work.

You will have to remap the emulator keys.

I found I actually prefer hooking up a good USB gamepad to play the console emulators.

thanks Xam. Just wanted to be sure as i am configuring my system. Trying to save space in my home. So an all in one unit is really what I need right now.

Ok, I got my slikstik control panel. I was abe to get it working with MAME32 and Daphne. But for some reason, when I go to configure the button layout for other emulators, and push the slikstik buttons, they are not registering. It's like I am pushing nothing. I thought that slikstik worked like a keyboard. Shouldn't I just set it up like a keyboard, and then each button is like a keyboard button push?

I have searched yahoo/google.. i seem to find a lot of adds for slikstik if i search for anything with their name. Any help would be appreciated.

A large slikstik cont panel comes with an ipac4 as the interface afaik.  The ipac4 is set for mame as its default power up.  You have to remap many of the buttons to the appropriate inputs needed depending on what emulator you are running.  See the ipac4 programming info at ultimarc for the program and test programs.

If your interface is not an ipac4 please specify what it is since you did not specify which slikstik cp you have.
