Yea, yea, asterisks. Bla Bla Bla.
I went down to a Hollywood Prop/Video Game auction this past weekend. I didn't find any games that I liked but I went a little crazy when they came to the Team America props. It's one of my favorite movies.
I bought a prop arm with a built in "video watch". It a giant version of one of the puppets arms to be used for close ups when they showed him talking on the video watch to Spotsworth. The arm is about two feet long. The hand alone is about a foot wide. The watch is a 2.5" LCD screen with a bunch of custom LED's.
As you can see from the pics, everything was in pieces.
-
I bought a new LCD(original was cracked) and got everything back together. I then hooked a little Jakks Pac-Man game up to the composite input.
The LED's look awesome. They are controlled via a little control box. I can adjust the intensity of the blue LEDs and the green LEDs on top strobe back and forth. The reds just light up.
The screen looks incredible and it is big enough to be playable. The screen is the same size as a video Ipod.
Next step is to wire up some cheap speakers and also figure out a way to display this thing. Luckily I'm not married.

quanto questa?

Very cool, but I have to know, what did a prop like that set you back?
-
It actually wasn't too bad. Right around $200. I'm sure this thing cost thousands to make. Alot of the props were going for big money. I think I scored pretty well. I bought a couple of more props as well. I'll post pics later today.
It came with a bunch of production paperwork and illustrations. It even came with 3 extra watch faces and the original mold to cast more of them as well.
-
If I were you, I would test the ebay waters now that it is fixed, especially with all of the paperwork to back it up. You might be able to make some money.
-
Yeah, I might. I would like to lessen the damaged caused by the other prop that I bought.

---fudgesicle--- YEAH!
(thought that would be the FIRST reply!)

You need to add "AMERICA" and a short pause before that. And it's all screamed, as our caps lock implies. :laugh2:

so what other props did you buy?
-
Here are the other props that I picked up from Team America.
The first one is a poster for the play "Lease". (Everyone has AIDS!). I couldn't find it on film so it was probably edited out. Whats really cool about it though is that it has a bunch of "good luck" wishes to Gary that are written in pen by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
The second is obviously the Lamborghini Diablo Limo that mophs into a jet. The wings on the model are swing-wings like an F14. They tuck underneath the body.

I'm still waiting for the montage montage

Considering this guy's addiction, I wouldn't go near that wristband with a 10 gallon bottle of Lysol.
-
The outside of the arm & wristband may be ok...but be wary of the cavity!
