OK, here is the deal. I am trying to setup mala to work with my x-arcade. I am using mala as my frontend and mame32fx as my mame software. When I play games in the mame32fx program everything works fine with the x-arcade cgf file in the ctrlr folder. When I run mala, I can move about the program fine with my x-arcade, but when I start a game it reverts back to the standard control layout and not my predefined layout. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
On a side not I have did several searches and research on this issue and cannot find anything

It can't help that you're not running the command line version of Mame which is what Mala wants. If it was me, I would use the command line version of Mame and set the ctrlr option in Mame.ini.

Sorry, if I sounded like a butt.....didn't mean to. the reaons I ask this question is that, for instance on GameEx, you have to add a comman line of -ctrlr x-arcade, and it works fine, but I can't seem to find anything within MALA like that. Anymore suggestions. I really like using mame32 because I am not very efficient in the command line version and it is so much easier to change settings.

No, but I tested it with the command line version of Mame and it worked. I have no idea if the GUI version of Mame accepts the same command line parameters. If you had it working with Gamex, there's no reason it will not work in Mala.

Hi,
I just got my X-Arcade Tankstick and got it up and running good except that when in games the trackball isn't working.
The trackball works fine when navigating in Mala and in windows XP.
When I go into Golden Tee the joystick is acting like the trackball to swing the club.
I'm using Mame 136 command line which I compiled and Mala 1.05
I'm using the command line in Mala as shown in this post (%rom% -ctrlr xarcade).
I'm also using the xarcade.cfg file that came with the Mame installation in the ctrlr folder.
I tried using the x-arcade.cfg from the x-arcade website but that didn't work.
I deleted the default.cfg file in the cfg file in case that was corrupted.
I disabled my main mouse in control panel to see if there was any conflict with the computer mouse and the trackball.
I'm using the mala.ini file from the x-arcade website.
Do I need to manually change something in mala.ini or some other ini file?
Do I need to configure the tankstick somewhere in Mala? I don't really understand the contrller section of Mala but I have the mouse check box enabled and the joystick disabled.

In Mame it looks like its configured when I hit Tab and look in Player 1 controls the Mouse X analog is set as Mouse X and Mouse Y analog is set as Mouse Y.
I've done a lot of searching but I'm not finding much on it. I think I'm just missing something easy. :dunno
I really really want to play some Golden Tee.
Please let me know.

In my mame.ini file I had:

coin_lockout 1
ctrlr
mouse 0
joystick 1
lightgun 0
I changed the mouse to 1 and the joystick to 0 and it works.
Now Golden Tee works great.
