Title: Another Jackpot Story!!
Post by: Nostalgia on July 15, 2007, 07:10:24 pm
So I saw an ad on Craigslist for a Ms Pac in a Pac cabinet. Dude was asking 100.00 for it. I emailed him as fast as my hands could type. He said he had no clue why it wont work, and it was mine if I wanted it. It wasnt working when he got it also. I go pick up the game and bring it home. Its in VERY nice condition for its age, dam near no wear on the side art. I opened the back door to find completely spotless, never been touched inards! The first thing I checked was the fuses. All good. Then as Im getting up to go get a drink, I noticed the safety switch was moved downward (as seen in my picture). I wrapped some tape around the switch, and it fired right up!. Completely working 100%. This type of stuff doesnt happen to me. Im so geeked. Here are some pics. I already have a Pac in progress, so Im not sure what Im going to do with this one.

Congrats on the great score!

Check that interlock switch. On most you can actually pull it out instead of taping it closed. Pulling it out is intended for maintenance when the door's open.

I just put it back where it wa supposed to go. I cant get over how clean this machine is. I gotta drill out the coin door lock, cuz it didnt have a key. Im curious to see how many plays it has. It was set on free play, and it doesnt have the normal arcade wear to it.  :applaud:

Wow!

So how far along is your pac project? I'd say scrap it if you can.

However, if you don't really want this one, you could just turn around and sell it now to make a few hundred dollars.

Sell the fixed one and stick with the original, as it's in a very nice condition.  Guess you can change marquee to Pacman and that's it.

It was just a switch?!?!?  Sounds like you took advantage of the handicapped.  You should be ashamed.   ;)

That's pretty sweet.

Most cabs I've dealt with that have interlock switches (I'm curious when ppl stopped using them) have them either removed entirely or swiveled so they're on all the time with the plunger pulled out.

Well I didnt know you could pull the plunger out. I thought they were spring loaded, and it was either out or in. Interesting.

Yes, if you pull it out, it will pop out into a locked position, and that is also "on".
