Title: claw machine
Post by: InsanePoetry on July 15, 2007, 02:29:24 am
im relatively new to the the whole mame cabinet thing and havent seen alot of the different things people have done but i was wondering if anyone has every attempted to build a claw machine? it seems like it would be realativly simple but then again i have no idea how any of that stuff works, what do yall think? think it would be possible and/or worth trying?

If you want to build one, then go ahead and build it. If you like engineering and electrics as opposed to electronics, then there's no reason not to.

However, what I would say is there's not really much point building one. You can't emulate any other game on it. You might as well buy a used one. It'd be cheaper than building one.

They're also not as simple as you think............ They have variable grab, and variable payout and a lot of other subtleties that the public are mostly unaware of.

I agree with Fozzy....

If it's something you just "want" to do then that's cool.

But honestly it would be cheaper and easier to buy a used broken one and just repair it than it would be to construct one from scratch.

They are neat little novelties for the home game room. I have a small Candy Crane myself.
But keep in mind .... that's ALL they do. So how much trouble would you want to go through for one? (to build or to buy)

i think that raises a yellow flag right there...maybe even a red one... ;)
