Can someone walk me through setting up my turbotwist2 and 3" happ usb/ps2 trackball? The spinner is connected via usb and the trackball via ps2. They both work fine in windows. How do I need to set up the mame.ini and windows sensitivity? The trackball already works in some games (bowling, golden tee...) I think I may have the mame.ini right because I was trying to configure arkanoid by selecting the dial control and spinning the spinner and it recognized the input, but it didn't work right in the game. It didn't move the ship smoothly. Instead it was all jittery and erratic. I'm sure someone out there has this same setup, so could someone just tell me how they have it set up (maybe using arkanoid as an example?)

Sounds like your trackball is mouse 1 and your spinner is mouse 2, and you're using winXP?
Things to look for:
Make sure you mapped to "dial analog"; and NOT "dial inc/dec" as these are for digital inputs like the keyboard.
Disable joysticks in spinner/TB games.
Try unmapping anything on "dial inc/dec".
With winXP, windows sensitivity shouldn't effect mame (and usually doesn't). Win9x it also shouldn't, but often does; don't know about Vista, but should be like XP.

Thanks, I'll try that tonight. The "dial analog" vs "dial inc/dec" was confusing me...

I have a similar question concerning this along the same lines. I too have a ps/2 trackball and a usb spinner. I know that the trackball is mouse 1 and the spinner is mouse 2. I set mame.ini for mouse 2 so it knows it has 2 mice, configure the spinner for the games, and it works fantastic. When I close mame out and open it back up, mouse 1 is back instead of 2 and i have to configure the controls for the spinner all over again. any ideas so it'll save in the mame.ini?

The mouse option in the ini file is on or off; IOW, setting it to two does nothing different than setting it to one. Mame automatically counts the mice on start up. Sounds like your cfg folder or cfg files are read-only, or old versions.
FWIW, as of 0.117u1, the default is now to combine the mice inputs unless the -multimouse option is also enabled.
