Title: Power supply issues/thoughts
Post by: InsanePoetry on July 14, 2007, 05:16:06 pm
first off let me say that i have yet to start on my first cabinet and i know nothing about soldering or wiring but i have a pretty good idea of what is needed for the project. my question would be is it possible to have only one power cable coming from the back of the cabinet and turn everything on with one switch? i know there are power strips that will allow me to do this but my plan was to light the inside of the cabinet and have a lexan side panel to display the inside so i want it to be as neat as possible, so i was wondering what parts would be needed to accomplish this and how much work would it be? also thought about using electroluminescent wire around the side of the sides and around the edge of the control panel. does anyone know if this wire has a 'tail' on it like t molding and if its difficult to install? thanks for reading all that lol

it isn't too hard, i only have one power wire coming out the back of my machine. i do know allot about soldering so i made my own power bar that turns everything on, but i would suggest that you buy a "smart strip" then just mount a power button for your computer where it is accessable and bingo, everything on with a single button press.
