Title: NY Giants
Post by: tommy on July 14, 2007, 03:35:08 pm
So, we no longer have the great Tiki Barber. What a shame such a great back decided to hang them up so early and I'm sure the two replacements backs will do a great job instead.   ::)

I would have to think he has no confidence in manning and the team or one would think he would have came back for another go.

I know this is old news to anyone who follows football but man, that sucks.

It means he can make more money outside of football.

Hey, I'm sure you looked like that a time or two in your lifetime.

I can see what happened now, "hey Eli, lets get a pic of you and your honey... arrroook"  ;D

It could be worse Tommy, you could have Kordell Stewart as your QB. *shudder*

STFU.  As a Bears fan, I had to endure that one year.

Could be better than Grossman though.  And definitely better than Eli!   :laugh2:

That was Pittsburgh's "Thank You" for Mike Tomczak  ;)

You would rather have Tiki hang around like Earl Campbell and Emmitt Smith than go out on top like Jim Brown and Jerome Bettis?

I am no Giants fan, but from where I am sitting he went out the right way.

I know how you feel!  I was sitting on several rookie cards that were graded 8's and 9's, one even 10 when Barry Sanders decided to hang up his cleats in lieu of smashing the ultimate rushing record :banghead:

There is a difference in still having good years left then a back just staying around for the hell of it.

FYI - Earl Campbell is a cripple now, can't maintain a stream of thought for more than a minute, and lives half his life in a chair.

Tiki is a wise man.  He's a millionaire, was looking at more millions outside of football, and he can still walk and think.  Few NFL players are so lucky.

Exactly, has his health and his wealth. Seemed like he picked the perfect time to move on to other things. The notion that he owes something to the Giants given the nature of professional sports in this day and age, is laughable.

Plus, he's intelligent enough to know Coughlin isn't a good enough coach to win a Super Bowl and Manning isn't a good enough QB to get them there.  Eli Manning was not a #1 overall pick quality player... he was drafted on the off chance he was going to be like Peyton.  He clearly is nothing like Peyton.

Not even a relevant point.  NOBODY ever really had Kordell as their QB ;D

Exactly my point. He took up the space that a functional QB would normally fill. In his defense though, he was more entertaining on the field than most of the post-Bradshaw QB's the Steelers employed. Bubby Brister still gets the nod for most entertaining off the field Steelers QB.

Training Camp can't open soon enough. I actually started watching an Arena League game yesterday, but it was just too strange.

This not a downing eli thread but a damn tiki left thread. Eli will do just fine.

But Tiki is gone, and not coming back. So there's really not much more to say there, so let's get on to the Eli bashing.  ;D

Arena League games are more of an experience.  Kinda like concerts.  Sure, you can buy the album, but the concert is the same thing, while adding an "experience".

Milwaukee Mustangs are slated to start back up in '08, and I'm hoping I can set aside some cash for a season ticket, but they're cheap enough to just walk up.  If there's a team in your area, I can't recommend going to a game enough.  It's an entirely different thing than watching it on TV, and you'll be interested in watching 'em soon enough

Missed out on ever seeing  the Gladiators when they (and I ) were in Pittsburgh, but I see that Phoenix does indeed have a team. I'll have to indulge in a game next season.

Wish there were an arena team in the Boston or Providence area.

Mebbe they heard you were looking for a part-time job and closed up shop so you wouldn't bring all the cheerleaders down ;D

Hey, if I had a job like that, I'd be the cheeriest guy any of you know.  I'd have spirit, yes I do, I'd have spirit, so should you!

You could hate the other team right out of the field of play. Mr hates everyone equally.  ;D

I didn't say equally.  Spent too many years on the football field.  During the game, the people in the other uniform are the biggest pieces of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- walking Earth.  That's a special type of dislike.  After the game everyone is cool and smiles but during the game the other guys deserve and should get a savage beating.

I won't miss Tiki one bit. That SOB ran all over us in Philly.
Sorry Tommy..... this won't be your year.

Go Birds!

If Mcnabb can stay healthy you might have a chance but you don't have Garcia anymore to pickup the slack.

Brandon Jacobs for the Giants is a pretty good back and a bull dozer, after thinking about it he might be able to have a good year after all.

McNabb never stays healthy. Kolb's waitin' in the wings. We never had a problem with any of your big backs, just the little quick ones. I never liked Meggett either.
We'll see what happens. Hopefully Kearse gets and stays healthy this year.

For Christ's sake, can't Tiki Barber STFU and stop trying to undermine the Giants?
