Well, threw a bid on it, will have to see if the price gets too insane, but at least I'm close enough to pick it up if I win.

I live about 5 minutes from it.  Too big though, the wife would kill me...  :-(

Look on the bright side, if she kicks you out of the house, you'll have something to sleep in!

Good Guy Seller .... just thought I'd note that.

It's a shame about the cab condition though.

Yes Chris is really cool. He just hooked me up with some very needed parts. Including the power brick in the other tread.

Well, I was going to bid on it, but I'll let you have it ;)  But if you restore it, you have to invite me over.

If I win it and get it restored, everyone on this board is invited to come play it anytime they want, as long as they give 24 hours notice!

Feel free to stop by then...I'll be sure to get up an unlock the front door about 7:30am.

Don't worry when the cops stop by and ask you what you're doing hanging around outside the house in the middle of the night, they're only barely likely to arrest you (and yes, the cops here actually will do that, had a friend who was waiting for about 15 mins for me to get home one night and the cops drove by twice and stopped once to ask what he was doing).

I was considering bidding on it.  Its a bit far (5 hour drive) but I've wanted one for years!

And boy will my wife kill me if I get it :)

Are you planning on restoring it, or maming it?

Within two hours of me I'd pwn it.

I'd drive 5 or 6 hours each way for a Star Wars cockpit. Heck, I'd consider an overnight trip if needed. They don't just pop up around here in any condition.

Restore would be ideal, but a lot of that will depend on my luck hunting down a replacement monitor and PCBs-that thing sounds pretty stripped out. I'm not going to completely rule out restoration, but I might go with "MAME it till you can get the parts to restore" and see how things turn out.

I'll definitely get a friend to help me move it into this house this time, though. I'm pretty sure that getting that Gorf cab into the house solo last time (stupid stairs) is how I got the hernia I had to get repaired earlier this year.

Another shout out for the seller of that cab. I've now bought 6 project cabs from Chris and have been extremely happy with the deals he's thrown my way. Good luck!

Actually, go ahead and bid on it, I only put a max of the $100 starting price he has listed. Just got in an accident yesterday and need the cash I was going to spend to buy this to fix my truck =x. Now YOU have to invite ME over to play if you get it restored =p

I would, but I don't have a way to get it to my garage.

Dude, it's a star wars cockpit.  Get a way.  Rental trucks aren't hard to get.

You can get a rental truck for like $20/day. Some of them have lifts on them. If it is only an hour or two away from you, you can get away pretty cheap.

Not everywhere... unless you're moving something only a couple of miles, here you can't get a rental truck for less than around $50 once you're done with tacked on costs like mileage.  I usually end up renting a pickup from Enterprise at about $75 since I rarely move anything a short distance.

I checked and it's 60 miles round trip for me.  So with U-Haul, it's going to be $20 + $1/mile + gas = around $100.

You're definitely better off going with Enterprise or something like that.  You'll pay around $70 and have unlimited miles, a much nicer truck, and good service.  Uhaul has horrible service and treats customers like crap.

They charge $1/mile!!!!

I will say that Uhaul is very reasonable with their trailer hitch installed. They installed a hitch and wiring for me for the same cost of the parts I could have gotten elsewhere.

Well if you have a car with a trailer hitch, you could rent one of there trailers for $20 w/o the added mileage.

Home Depot also rents trucks by the hour, but I'm not sure how much they cost.

You can't go 60 miles round trip in an hour.

Home Depot and Lowe's both do that... it's something like $15-20 for the first 75 minutes but then jumps a good amount after that.  Good for quick local moves, not good for going any distance.

If I thought my truck was going to be running by the time the auction is over, I'd help you move it for a few bucks to cover gas (and the promise of getting to play it someday). Body shop is taking forever to get back to me with an estimate, tho, will likely be sometime next week before I get it back =x

Check out priceline.com - I just rented a car through there, and got a screamin deal. I needed a car for a day, and the best rate I could get with all the online searches was $41. I went to priceline, and named my price - $20, got it accepted and also got it through Avis: I was expected some no name joint. Avis' price was $60 if I booked it myself...

The only downside is you have to give them a credit card number when you offer your price, so you are locked in and pay immediately if they accept the amount.

I've done the Home Depot route before and it worked out well. I had the thing for 3 and a half hours and went about 120 miles round trip and it cost me $60 total since it was $19.99 per hour (first 75 minutes counted as an hour). Not bad and I got all four cabs home safely.

Priceline is a good idea, I'll check that out next time I need a cab mover.  Going $75 a pop hurts.

Yeah, that sucks. I got lucky - my realtor as a bonus for all her previous customers, keeps a truck on hand to loan out for free whenever we want. I've taken that puppy across three states...

I was going to go to 250... my wife sat down next to me 30 minutes before the end..

wife - "Your really going to bid on that?"
me   -"Yeah, I was going to"
wife -"Really?"
me   -"Yeah"

Then she gave me that face of complete dissappointment... One that I read to say "You wont be getting any for at least 2 weeks AND you buy me something I don't really need thats expensive"

So, I sat there and watched.... price jump to 130... 150... 170...  I knew I could have taken it....

I let it pass...

I then go up to bed... about to cry..

I get into bed, and say that I was a bit dissapointed because I didn't think I would ever see another one for sale in my pricerange...

then she said it..

I couldn't believe it...

"So why didn't you bid?"

!@#%^@#$!@#*%*!@#   :banghead: :banghead:   !@#%

Hey, I don't care which one of them wears it.  It's their deal and I don't have to see it.
