Title: Reset Switch for "Switcher"
Post by: FrizzleFried on July 13, 2007, 07:49:07 pm
I need to be able to "reset" or turn off and then on a JAMMA PCB from the coin door.  Instead of installing a 120v power switch up front I was considering installing a simple arcade button set to "NC" hooked up to the 5+V for the JAMMA board.  When i pushed the button it would break contact causing a "reset".

Is my thinking sound or am I going to fry something?

PS: I need the reset up front so I can hold the TEST switch in while I RESET to get to the settings, etc.

in my opinion using a switch on the ac line would be better as it would cut total power,i am not sure what would happen if you just cut the +5-i think it would work as most of the logic runs from the +5 so i think it worth a go
ahh thats what you are up to with the atari button, remember NC means normally cooked :scared

The problem I see is that JAMMA connectors have multiple +5V leads...which to use or do them all?  Any other solutions you folks can think of?  I don't want to have to run 110v from the bottom back of the cabinet to the front and then back down to the PS, etc.

disconnect all your +5 wires from the psu and link them to the switch,in other words all you do is run a new wire from the psu +5 to the switch at the front connect to the common then another wire from the nc links down to the disconnected +5 wires
