Hello!!!
I've got some questins for You. Last time I've bought an old Asciiware Arcade Stick for PSX with a broken joystick. I repaired it, it's now ok. But I want to exchange it for other joystick like Happs Ultimate or Competition joystick, and here is my problem, will the new joystick fit in the place fo the original one??? Has it got the same size as the original??? Is there one standard size of a joystick or are there more standards (bigger or smaller etc.)??? I hope you understand what am I talking about. :)
Oh, one more question. I love to play in 2d fighting games (especially Capcom fighting games) and I want to ask which joystick will be the best for 2d fighting games??? J've heard that Happs perfect 360 joystick is the king of joysticks, but in my opinion 2d fighting games don't need full 360 motion, all they need is a 8-way controller, or maybe I'm mistaken??? What joysticks are used ina arcade machines like Capcom vs. SNK 2 or Guilty Gear X ???
Please answer, I'm a newbie when it comes to arcade sticks and I need help!!!
B'

I dont think space wise you can accomplish this. Take a look at the happs joystick dimensions (http://www.happcontrols.com/images/50/507608xx_mounting.gif) Best bet would be just to hack the pad and make urself a controler box.

I don't think your original box will fit....
but if you want to gut the whole thing...
you can just take the circuit board...
but buy like competition stick... and buttons...
and re-do the stick....
I believe... in the buy-sell section...
someone is selling wood boxes for like $30+ ??...
(some price that is VERY reasonable....)
you can just order 1 of those... put all your stuffs in and Waa Laa.... you've got a brand new stick !!!....
ps: that's what I saw.... I donno that guy and have not dealt with him... so, I donno how good he is.... and I donno if that deal is still available... so... take my word at your own risk.... ;) ;D

The buttons on those ASCII sticks are rubbish so your better off getting a new one. Hori do most of the PS ones. I got a yellow/grey Namco one for a fiver recently. They're bringing out a new one for SC2 for about $30.
The other option is building one from scratch, which cost a fair bit more if you want to do it right.
As far as sticks go I say stick to modern ball top Japanese ones. Capcom, Namco, Sega, SNK all use them.
