Title: Magnetic Shielding?
Post by: saintjo on July 07, 2007, 04:14:37 pm
I had to move some things around in my cabinet last night. now apparently the speakers and the tv are too close however. The magnets on the speakers are bending and discoloring the tv screen.

Is there any quicky, easy, cheap way to shield the tv from the speakers above?

move the speakers away from the television

that would take some work, that is why i am asking if there was an either way.

Cheaper speakers may not have as much of a magnetic draw. Some people have had pretty good luck with cookie sheets. Slide one in there and see if it clears up.

PVC caps can be used, also bucking magnets are worth a try.

I haven't tried those but I've read about them quite a bit.

How about you replace with some cheap PC speakers that have shielding built in?  Not that hard to find .... or even use old TV speakers which are usually shielded.  Just make sure you aren't using 4ohm speakers with an 8 ohm rated amp.
