I have tried 3 different arcade vga cards and 2 differet pc's in this cabinet, i cannot get the monitor to stop vert. rolling. the colors are blue/gray also. the cabinet has the original pcb from mechanized attack and when i hook that up it looks really good, no rolling, and colors are bright and clear. I have never had this much trouble hooking up an arcade monitor. Any suggestions? anyting special i need to do with these inverted monitors. i plan on making this a mame cabinet for positional gun games, (T2, operation wolf,etc..)
thanks for any suggestions!

looks like your cable is connected incorrectly to the vga card,i can't see red or green and either the sinc is not connected or the video common is in the wrong place
-
i am using one of ultimarc's premade vga cables is it possible the cable is bad and not hooked up correctly?
-
OK i have hooked up a different pc from an existing dos mame cabinet, and now i do have correct colors, looking good there. I think the ultimarc cable has something wrong with the red and green cables. Anyways I still cannot get it synched. if i plug in the mechanized attack pcb plugs it synchs up instantly and looks great. I cannot figure this out. its like the arcadevga card is not sending synch signals at all or the wrong type of synch signals. any ideas? or things to try?
-
contact ultimarc,it sounds like the card is faulty or your setup is wrong
-
i have tried 2 other ArcadeVGA cards both from working mame machines with arcade monitors and the colors look good, but i still cannot synch it. Must be something with this monitor, the image is inverted like it should be for a mirrored cabinet, but is there a trick to getting these synched?
-
Are you talking about the "VGA breakout cable" from ultimarc? If so, how did you connect it to your monitor (do you have the correct pinouts, does your monitor use composite sync, etc)? If it's composite sync, you have to connect the H and V sync wires from the VGA cable together and run to your monitor's sync.
-
i have tried the standard VGA breakout cable from ultimarc also. the monitor has -h -v synch and +h +v synch hookups. the original mechanized attack pcb connects to the -h and -v synch connections and that is where i hooked up to also. Is there something special about the yoke being flipped that i need to be concerned with? this is a mirrored cabinet setup, the monitor when hooked up to the mechanized attack pcb is inverted image and the mirror reverses it for use.
-
you can invert the picture using the yoke plugs, how many yoke plugs do you have one or two?for instance if you have two then one pair will be red and blue and the other pair will be yellow and green, all you would need to do is take one of the plugs off and reconnect it so its now green to where the yellow wire used to go and yellow to where the green wire used to go-DO NOT EVER move the plugs to the other yoke connection or you will blow something up
i think the picture will lock o.k by playing with the sinc connections and hold pots
-
This monitor is already inverted, this is a mirrored cabinet. what do you mean working with teh hold pots and synch connections? I have been working on the hold pots and synch connections for 2 weeks and i cannot get it to synch. Does anybody recognize what model WG this monitor is from the pictures above? can youtell me what each hold pot does and then maybe i may have some luck. I just never had any issues with an arcade monitor before like this. if i hook up the PCB it looks awesome.
-
I think it might be a K7200 series.
-
I am still trying to work this out, does anybody have some suggestions. I have tried 3 different arcadevga cards, 2 different mame pcs', have tried connecting to -h,-v syncs and +h,+v syncs. used the ultimarc vga breakout cable, and have wired it up with the ultimarc video amp. I get good colors, but cannot stop it from vertical rolling, i have tried adjusting all the pots i can find on the board.
-
If this is indeed a k7200 chassis can someone tell me where the VHold is located? I dont see it anywhere the color looks great and it is only rollin vertically.
-
have tried connecting to -h,-v syncs and +h,+v syncs
Have you tried tying the V and H from the breakout cable together and using the composite sync? (HVComp)
-
OK Where on this chassis is the HVComp? I would love to try that. It is a K7200 chassis.
-
Yeah, I just looked, Mechanized Attack puts out Negative Composite sync..... which is what most arcade games put out.
What lettering or labels do you have on the monitor chassis next to the video input connector?
R, G, B, H, V, C, etc, etc ?
Can you find a P number labeled on the main chassis? (Like P719, P819, PXXX, etc.)
-
Yes it is like this. R,G,B,GN,+V,+H,GN,-V,H
on the top of the chassis is a P-819
It is a remote adjustment with all the V pos, H pos, contrast, blk level, V size, H size, but is does not have the one i am lookin for Vertical Hold. that would be just too easy.
Thanks much for your help on this, very much appreciated!

P819 DEFLECTION BOARD =
19K7203
WGM1972-H0GS66K
WGE1972-H0GS39L
STANDARD RESOLUTION
Looking at the schematic you should have -
R
G
B
GND
+Vsync
+H/VComp --------- + Composite
KEY (blank)
GND
-Vsync
-H/VComp ---------- - Composite
Does this match yours?
If so, try combining (twist together) the V and H from the breakout cable and putting it to either Composite input. (usual the negative one)
Let us know how it goes.
-
Yep thats what mine is exactly, I am using hte ultimarc video amp i have a wire connected to the Sync connection to the ones you specified that are composite, either way either - or + composite it does sync it somewhat but it just keeps rolling vertically. Is there a Vertical hold anywhere on this board that i cannot find? If i hook up the original mechanized attack PCB it works great no rolling, great colors.
-
One thing i did notice on the reboot i just did is the DOS screens are not rolling verticaly, it only starts doing that when the XP screens start showing.
-
i have a wire connected to the Sync connection to the ones you specified that are composite
Just one wire?
Is it a composite signal from the videoamp?
(I don't remember the layout on those, I have one around here somewhere)
How is your monitor orientated?
Horizontally like a television or turned sideways (vertically)?
There appears to be a VR501 on the main chassis labeled H-Hold.
There's also a VR401 - Vertical Linearity.
I don't see a direct "vertical hold " pot though.
Keep in mind, don't mess with "shutdown" or "B+" pots.
-
Horizontally it is still in the Mechanized attack cabinet, it is a mirrored cabinet. those pots have hot glue over them so there is no way i can mess with them. I just cannot figure this out, i have 3 other mame cabinets in my garage and all have arcadevga's and arcade monitors, and none gave me this much trouble.
-
And yes it is a composite signal from the video amp.
-
You can use a heat gun to loosen and remove that hot glue.
-
so the Vertical Linearity where is that located? I dont know where, I was talking about hte shutdown pot that and another one has hotglue on them. Does the vertical linerarity adjust vertical hold?
-
Have you tried it without the video amp?
I doubt the V Linearity will help. But it should be near middle of the chassis hiding behind a tall heatsink. Kinda near the H-Hold pot, but on the other side of the heatsink.
-
Yes I have tried it with the Ultimarc premade VGA breakout cable, but there seems to be issues with using that beyond just the vertical rolling, it does not seem to have any colors except red, green and blue not present. you can see on the first pics on this post.
Like i mentioned in an earlier post i do see some post up screen shots for the DOS commands before the Win XP starts loading up and those screens are not rolling.
I appreciate all your input. Thanks!
