Title: Anyone know of a steering wheel for Oscar spinner ?
Post by: buks on July 05, 2007, 08:42:36 am
Hi,

Having drooled over the GGG spinner with racing wheel I thought "gotta order a wheel for my spinner!!!!". Unfortunately GGG only sell them with their own spinner - I already have a functional spinner and dont want to have to drill a larger hole in my CP. So, my question is, anybody know of a small steering wheel that will fit an Oscar spinner ? Or has anyone built their own ? I've considered a BYO and I am now checking out kids toys to see if anything has a decent looking wheel that I could use - not had any thoughts on how to attach it yet though. I understand the GGG wheel just sits on the spinner knob as it is rather weighty which is a great idea. Also Randy has stated that the wheel was designed only for the GGG spinner but if it fits on the Oscar spinner knob then I'd be happy (I can't see it breaking the shaft to be honest). But thats academic anyway as the wheel isn't sold seperately (unless Randy changes his mind :) ).

Thanks for reading....

I'd be more worried about it bending the shaft than breaking it.  Steering wheels give you a lot of horizontal leverage on the shaft.

I can't imagine how but then I'd probably be really gentle with it then some big bloke would come along and say "hey ! Super Sprint !" SNAP..........

I know you said you didn't want to cut a bigger hole in your cp but I just bought one of these recently and although the mounting hole is larger the overall footprint isn't much bigger than a button. I took out an original Tron spinner and put the TT2 in it's place. AMAZING difference in feel and playability and I got a 6 inch wheel. Just my 2 cents worth.
